The Prince of the Old Boy
Network
Welcome! This is a non-commercial website which exists for the
sole purpose of Rhode Island citizens airing their views on one of
their elected officials, Rep. Patrick Kennedy. We have a right, nay, a
Duty, to exercise our free speech and voice our petitions.
Overall, our opinion is that Patrick Kennedy is very mediocre.
Patrick Kennedy is a product of the Old Boy Network. The Brits
got Fergie, but even she looks pretty good by comparison. Patrick
Kennedy is what we get for having an American royal family. Professor
Darrell West has said that the Kennedy family fortune is estimated at
$1 Billion; money gives alot of advantages and buys alot of power.
Professor West has observed that Patrick Kennedy falls into
the category known as celebrity politicians. We would
add that Patrick Kennedy is what the people get for choosing celebrity
above ability.
One email we received asked "why do you hate the Kennedys?" Well, that
is just not true. First, this website is not about "the Kennedys," it
is about Patrick Kennedy as an elected official. Second, we don't hate
anyone. Third, we don't
really care too much about gossip, or the Kennedy lore.
However, we don't feel that the Kennedys should be
blindly worshipped either, and idiot sons like Patrick prove that point.
What we really care about is good
government --and we feel we don't get
that from Patrick Kennedy.
OK, so Patrick recently crashed his car, and the media is in a feeding
frenzy about it. Granted, it doesn't help Patrick's image, but it is
not our primary concern. This website has existed for a few YEARS prior
to this incident.
Although, we do list a few obligatory links below to the car crash
story.
However, the aftermath of the car crash incident looks very
manipulated. It did seem highly orchestrated for Kennedy to suddenly be
rushed to the Mayo Clinic --like his PR team was ready with a scripted
damage control plan. The bottom line is somewhat reminiscent of the
US DOJ response to the federal massacre at Waco, Texas. Remember how
attorney general Janet Reno proclaimed that she was "taking
responsibility" for the events there? What a joke! She didn't resign,
or do much of anything as a consequence. It was all lip service. It was
all an empty sound bite. Patrick Kennedy's faux emergency trip to the
Mayo Clinic the day after his car crash is more of the same. It's just
a red herring, an empty gesture.
So, what's our beef? Patrick Kennedy works for himself and his cronies
as
Job #1. Politicians should work for the people, and not the other way
around. But, Patrick Kennedy seems to be just another legacy cog in the
Democratic party machine.
The main issue which concerns us is Kennedy's official act in December
of 1998 to vote against impeaching Clinton. You might be tempted to
think that this is "old" news, but it isn't. Citizens need to hold
their elected officials accountable for their official acts, and that
is what we are doing here. Kennedy needs to be held accountable for
this vote.
The Democratic attitude at the time seemed to be: "Hey, let's quickly
vote this thing down, then move on.." There was even an
ultra-liberal website, actually called MoveOn, which existed to
whitewash Clinton's crimes.
NOT SO FAST!
This event was so striking, and so outrageous, that it deserves
long pause: Kennedy was one of the many Democrats in the US House of
Representatives who voted NOT to impeach President Clinton.
Why?
Of course, any critical thinking person knows that Clinton was guilty
of perjury, subornation of perjury, obstruction of justice, lying to a
grand jury, witness intimidation, and abuse of power --and even
Clinton himself later admitted as much, and lost his license to
practice law.
But, why did the Congressional Democrats, including Patrick Kennedy,
vote against the impeachment with such unanimity? Our system of
government is supposed to be based on the law. However, in reality, it
is highly controlled by partisan politics, and Patrick Kennedy is among
the inscrutable officials who represent the worst of partisan politics/
the Democratic Party/ the Old Boy Network.
The reason that the Democrats voted against the Clinton impeachment is
that such a vote was in their political self-interests. The Democrats
decided that it was not in their self-interests to have a President
from their own Democratic party impeached, so --DAMN THE FACTS AND DAMN
THE LAW-- they voted against it. This type of institutional corruption
and political cowardice tells our country and the world that our US
Congress is crooked, and that our highest ranking government officials
are above the law.
Patrick Kennedy and the other party pols who were unwilling to break
ranks clearly show that there are two sets of laws and standards in
this country:
Coach --This is for we the people. We feel the
pressure from government in everything we do.
First Class --For the rich and famous only. Commit any crime, the
bigger the better. If you have big bucks or star quality, you will get
treated with kid gloves.
Patrick Kennedy is part of the machine that sets up these political
favors.
Based on his willingness to setup a parallel universe for Bill Clinton
and 'look the other way' as a favor to fellow Democrats, Patrick
Kennedy epitomizes the powerful and connected politician who works
against the people and against the principles of this country for his
own self-interests. Patrick Kennedy is a "team player" in the worst
sense of that expression. The decision metrics of partisan politicians
are much the same as those of gangsters, whose group self-interests
always come before other lesser considerations, such as the law.
This was the most important vote in
the history of our country; this was the most horrible vote in the
history of our country. It said that politics come before the law. It
said that we are a country of men, not laws. It said that the President
is above the law. And, it was all courtesy of Democratic party hacks
like Patrick Kennedy.
So, this web page is the citizen objection.
In our opinion, Patrick Kennedy is bad for Rhode Island.
Out
of rehab, Patrick Kennedy speaks at Brown / Multimedia
--June 6, 2006.
From the Providence Journal. Check out this following series of events,
it is an
amazing non sequitur. Patrick Kennedy was allegedly driving while
intoxicated, then crashed his car, then was chauffered from the scene
by the DC police, was dropped off at his home, was NOT arrested, was
NOT subject to a breathalizer or chemical
test, the next day he left the jurisdiction for rehab at the Mayo
Clinic, and then after 30 days he came back to Rhode Island, and (this
is the good part!)... he is given a hero's welcome!! Patrick
is greeted by a full page ad in the Providence Journal signed by over
50 people, including several politicians. Welcome to Celebrityland.
Bob
Kerr: Now's the time to consider walking away --May 10, 2006.
From the Providence Journal. "In 1994, when Kennedy ran for Congress,
he faced Dr. Kevin Vigilante. Vigilante is probably one of the most
impressive people to seek public office in Rhode Island in the last
quarter century -- smart and caring and dedicated. Vigilante versus
Kennedy offered a choice between accomplishment and family ties. And
family ties won. Credentials counted for nothing. There was a Kennedy
in the race and somebody else."
R.I.'s
delegation reacts to Bush's Iraq speech --November 30, 2005. From
The Providence Journal. Seemingly endless negativity from RI's
lawmakers. Jack Reed wants to give the terrorists a timetable, exactly
when we will call it quits and give up. Patrick Kennedy plays Monday
morning quarterback. Linc Chafee says Bush is losing credibility, but
in our view it is Chafee who is losing credibility.
I
have never worked a [bleeping] day in my life. -From the Washington
Post. "As sometimes happens with Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.), he let
his mouth race ahead of his brain Wednesday night at a gathering of
Young Democrats at the Washington nightspot Acropolis. After
presidential candidate Howard Dean spoke, Kennedy delivered an
impassioned peroration against President Bush's tax cut. We hear that
Kennedy told the crowd: "I don't need Bush's tax cut. I have never
worked a [bleeping] day in my life."
No
More Red Carpet For Political Royalty -Business Week
Issue 9/16/2002, p. 39, has an interesting article titled "No More
Red Carpet For Political Royalty." It says that "the family dynasty
most at risk this year.. is that of the Kennedys," although Patrick is
not
mentioned specifically.
Questions
Patriotism of Clinton Critics -From the Progressive. "The low point
came when Representative Patrick Kennedy, Democrat of Rhode Island,
resurrected --nearly word for word-- the scurrilous language the LBJ
White House used in 1966 when it questioned the patriotism of his
uncle, Robert F. Kennedy, who had begun to speak out against the
Vietnam War. "Representative Kennedy even suggested that Congress
should ask the CIA for permission to go ahead with the impeachment
debate."
Derides
Challenge to Presidential Abuse of Power -From The New York
Times/ AP. Patrick Kennedy derides one of the weightiest and most
important votes in the history of the US Congress as a "political
lynching."

Taking On The
Kennedys -Documentary about Patrick Kennedy's dirty political race
in 1994 against Dr. Kevin Vigilante. Reviewers and commentators have
said: "Probably the best documentary ever made on our political system"
and "..it's a startlingly clear case in point of everything that is
wrong with politics today."
Inside Politics
-Professor Darrell West's site. Professor West wrote a book about
Kennedy called "Patrick Kennedy: The
Rise To Power" (Prentice-Hall, 2000).
Kennedy,
Rogers Face off -Rogers: "I have a front-row seat to being
a working family here. I am the head of one."
State
Dems try to derail Rogers' Campaign -For someone like Patrick
Kennedy, who comes from a family reported to be worth billions of
dollars, campaign finance (or any other kind of finance) is not an
issue. Patrick Kennedy himself admitted he never worked a day in his
life. But, for Dave Rogers, who is a middle class person, and has a
family to support, it is hard to simply leave his job and run for
office. Devotion
to a campaign is necessary for success. Average middle class
people like Dave Rogers need to have access to the political system,
and need to be able to run for office. Elected office shouldn't be
limited to the mediocre lucky sons of billionaire families. Campaign
finance laws are supposed to be used to catch fraud and wrongdoers.
These campaign laws shouldn't be used for
protecting the political fiefdoms of "Political Royalty," or for
partisan political purposes to trip up average folks who run for
office, snaring them in arcane and vague compliance issues.
